We love coffee a LOT but there is always a bit of a quirky feeling about the waste left over from our favorite beverage. It is degradable so that is one solution but would there be something else to use it for. There is a theory that people around the world get the same ideas simultaneously, so I figured out that probably other people are struggling with this as well. I found a few very clever companies using coffee grounds for new products. Here are my favorites and don’t hesitate to comment below if you find something even more fascinating.
We have had some experiments regarding used coffee grounds. There was a project in Baltics where it was converted into electricity and of course there are all the face masks and scrubs lots of ladies out there have tried out.
Aeropress has been around already since 2004 and it has become quite popular in the past ten years among the barista community. There is even few cafes concentrating in using only Aeropress as their premium coffee maker. And let’s face it, it's a super easy to use, clean and it’s very durable. There is already quite a lot of add-ons to Aeropress such as grinders, filters and now an espresso maker. And it's a called Prismo.
Kombucha has become extremely popular a few years back as there are many health benefits in it and it is a naturally fizzy drink with sweetly fermented flavor. It has been around long before the hipsters found it and it became part of the today’s heath trend of functional beverages. Study of Wiley University tells that it originally comes from China where it was used for its health benefits as early as 220 BC.
