Best cafés to visit in Budapest
The quality of specialty coffee shops in Budapest is a pleasant surprise – starting from very professional baristas to trendy interiors. Here’s the Budapest coffee tour we made during World of Coffee.
Cafe Frei coffee shops are located all over the world. They have an extraordinary wide menu which they call “Tasting the World”. It has more than 70 different coffee recipes from the major coffee “kitchens” of the world. Their coffee drinks are always made from freshly roasted arabica plantation coffee curiosities sorted by hand.
Small coffee shop with not so many seats inside, but coffee was great and barista a professional. They also offered Cascara berries and flowers’ tea to drink on spot or buy to home. After moving to a new address in Veres Pálné Street 17, Mantra is heard to have a bigger place with comfortable chairs, wider inner space and the same positive vibe. We are looking forward to visit the new premises also!
This coffee shop is located in traffic heavy Muzeum Körut. They offer French style breakfast and delicious cakes to pair with coffee, as the owners Bence and Nora are into coffee and cakes.
Fekete was the smallest specialty coffee shop in Budapest till it opened its breakfast place and brewer bar in the backyard. So now there’s a small coffee shop by the streets and lovely more spacious brew bar with outside seating in the backyard. Place offers wide variety of accessories such as T-shirts, badges, mugs etc. There’s also Cold Brew and Cold Brew Nitro in the menu.
Kontakt makes no compromise when it comes to coffee. “No sugar, no Americano, no milk in filter” is their creed. There is not one house roaster, but a raft of them, mostly from different Scandinavian countries. They are well known also for their nitro coffee.
My Little Melbourne & My Little Brew Bar
Established in 2012, My Little Melbourne is recognized as one of the leaders in Budapest’s artisanal coffee scene. The owners were greatly inspired by a visit to Australia, so their aim is to bring the aussie atmosphere in their shops. In the past years MLM has experienced a meteoric rise: it opened new places, founded its own roaster, Racer Beans, started running SCA diploma courses and recently took a second place in the barista, brewers and coffee in good spirits categories as well.
