I have gone sick of coffee, and I have returned – once you go black there is no way back :)

Hi, I am Martin. I am a chef, food nerd, tea geek and barista from Oslo. I have 20 years of experience with coffee. I love music and eating fresh and seasonal. I started as a bar back in the local coffee shop Java in St. Haugen Oslo. After a couple of years my boss won the WBC and I realized that coffee could be a profession if you put some effort in it.

I have been working in coffeebars like Stockfleths, Åpent Bakeri, Mocca/Java with different roles. I have also worked in bigger and smaller roasteries in different markets. I have made coffee ice cream for Tim Wendelboe and am a certified technical coffee consultant by illy caffé.

Fun fact: I used to be a DJ and played drums in a band.

Coffee superpower: I used to test coffee machines and espresso machines for the Norwegian Coffee Association. They check the degree of grind of the coffee, the contact time between the coffee and water, temperature of the water, the filtration, the wetting process and technical construction of the brewing equipment before giving a seal of approvement.

Favorite Coffee Destination: Copenhagen, Paris and Oslo are great places for good coffee.
